Public Speaking and Seminars

Whether you seek an after dinner speaker, and educational event, or a full seminar presentation, the success of your event depends on the result. You want the right combination of content and delivery. Let’s face it. You want a speaker to meet your audience expectations and to make you look good!

I want the audience with me. No bumps on a log allowed. Expect to laugh. Expect to learn. Expect to participate. While I may not have you in a group hug or dancing in the aisles, I want you with me. I’ll do my homework, come prepared, and I’ll do my best to deliver my message in a way that engages you. That could mean emotion, antics, truth, confrontation, compassion, and even song.

My ideas and insights are drawn from a 24-year career in public agencies, non-profit organizations and as a small business owner. My life experiences often contribute to my content and include forester, firefighter, ambulance attendant, search and rescue director, management team leader, administrator, trainer, marketer, publisher, husband, father, ministry leader, coach, fisherman, marathon runner and singer. As a preacher’s kid and one of five siblings, I learned from an early age that engaging an audience is not just about speaking, but about truly connecting.

I offer several topics and welcome opportunities to speak to small groups or large audiences. My presentations may be tailored to fit an event or organization. They can stand alone as 45-minute sessions or can be grouped into a tailor-made seminar of several hours. Some topics include:

Direction Support

My passion is helping small business owners break through the marketing/advertising confusion with compelling information, ideas, and insights. Often it is a well-seasoned sounding board that can be a powerful launching pad. I treasure the opportunity and am eager to work with clients one-on-one in the comfort of their office, my office, or a neutral setting. One approach is our Marketing Direction Session.

Marketing Direction Session
Knowing where to start is the only place to start! Starting with clear knowledge of who to reach, what to say, how to say it, and how to measure response is critical to marketing success. A Marketing Direction Session is designed to enable small business owners/managers to avoid the common mistake of tactic tryouts – bouncing from advertising tactic to advertising tactic without an intentional system. Such an approach typically results in limited or no measurable response, exhaustion of precious financial resources, and frustration with marketing – which is the lifeblood of every business.

Through a guided exploration, the Marketing Direction Session will help the owner/manager identify specific audiences, messages, and media that best fit their business objectives. By helping the business owner/manager understand their unique Response Triangle and First Factors, this consultation will equip participants to strike an intentional marketing direction and to determine whether they should attempt to pursue that direction with internal resources alone or with the support of outside expertise. No specific media will be endorsed or promoted during this session. Instead, participants will be supported in their consideration of various message delivery options.

Session length: 3 hours
Session price: $295 (less than the price of one bad ad placement)
